Department: Engineering, Mechanical
Description: Analysis of deformable bodies subjected to loading including strength, deformation, stability analyses. Categories of elastic/non-elastic materials (ceramics, metals, plastics) are addressed through theory and measurement labs. Material properties and interfacing, including sustainability, and thermal expansion characteristics. Degradation mechanisms including over-stressing, fatigue, and oxidation/corrosion. Material selection criteria for application.
