Description: An introduction to the principles of static equilibrium based upon the concepts of Newtonian mechanics applied to engineered structures and mechanisms. Topics include 2D and 3D equilibrium of particles, rigid bodies and structures; reduction of force systems; vector methods; moments of inertia; friction; and analysis of structures.
