Description: This course provides an interdisciplinary discussion of comics and graphic novels as culturally-embedded constructed media. Students will study texts using theories and research from a minimum of two academic disciplines (e.g., comics studies, literature, psychology, sociology). Further, students will explore ways that these texts can re-enforce, challenge, or subvert societal norms. Finally, students will discuss the relevance of comics to issues of diversity, inclusion, and social justice.
