Class Notes: This course will serve as an introduction to the broad field of queer theory, introducing students to foundational texts in the field. It will also explore a number of key offshoots and intersections that structure queer theory in relationship to related fields such as gender theory, trans theory, intersex theory, asexual theory, feminist theory, theories of race and racialization, ecothoery, posthumanism, Marxist theory, and psychoanalysis. Finally, it will also explore the queer interpretation of texts, cultures, and rhetorics. The format of the course will be a seminar, in which discussion is central. All readings will be available in PDF format. There will be one oral/written presentation and the option of either one longer final paper or two shorter ones.
