Class Notes: We live in a world that simultaneously offers step-by-step instructions on how to reach wellness, even happiness, and threatens annihilation in the forms of misogyny, white supremacy, and mass shootings. How are we to make sense of these warring ideological messages while trying to build a life? What role do reading, writing, and literacy play in helping us do this work of making sense and seeking meaning? As you begin the work of assessing what it means to complete a degree in English Studies, together we will read a number of texts with the aim of beginning to address these questions.
