Description: Study of structure and function of nucleic acids; chemistry, modification and biosynthesis of nucleic acids; dehydration of nucleic acids, nucleotides in cellular energy and signal transduction; nucleic acids in a cell; chromosomes, genomes, and internet resources; nucleic acid interactions; strategies to combat viral agents; and pharmacogenomics and pharmaceutical industry. Students will choose a topic related to nucleic acids on which to prepare a powerpoint presentation and present the topic in class. One semester of biochemistry is recommend prior to enrolling.
